The images above show the package for Led Zeppelin's third album. The images actually show the vinyl packages as that is what was prominent for music to feature on back when it was released. Now CD's are more popular which means less room for tons of art to displayed on front covers, just like this one. As you can see the front cover image has actually been repeated onto the disc which shows a nice flow between the artwork for the album and the actually product. Instead of one the front, like most CD covers for bands now show, the band is actually on the back of the cover which almost tells a story to the audience as they are intentionally meant to listen to the music first and then see the bands image and make possible links through them. The artwork on the front is displayed in bold, bright colours with a huge variety used, whereas the artwork on the back of the actual band is shown in black and white with a hint of beige which shows a huge contrast between the two covers, showing that there may be two different sides to the personality of the band or in fact, the music that they produce.
Meaning behind the graphics.
Some of the graphics which are on the front cover are then also shown inside the packaging to make them really stand out and be remembered by the audience. I really like the use of colour on this album packaging and I like how the images flow to the inside as well as them being displayed on the actual CD. There is a distinctive link between all images and it works really well. The fact that the band are displayed on the back cover but small cut outs of their faces are on the front gives the audience a sneak peek into what they are trying to do, which is in a sense reveal themselves and what they have created, it adds a sense of excitement for the listeners.

I chose to analysis this album package as for ours we want to take the same approach and use graffiti for the front cover, along with showing the two main actors on the back together and spread apart on the middle page to create a similar story to what is portrayed in the video. Also much of the more modern album artwork I have seen has not gone into this amount of detail and have used fairly dull colours but this one really stands out and the use of the bright colours on the front is truly eye catching which is how we want to make ours.
