Audience feedback- Midway through editing.
We took a handful of people, some from our media class and some who were not, and asked them to watch the part of our music video which we have already edited to get feedback before we continue with the rest of it.
Olivia- Media student.
What went well?
The realism of the relationship. It really seems like you are having fun and the laughing seems to be for a real reason. You seem like you are genuinely having a good time.
What do you think needs to be improved?
More shots to show where they are. More from the actors point of view to fit in with the overall surroundings.
Does the narrative match the lyrics?
Yes. When the song says about the liquor cabinet there is a shot of the girls 'drinking' which clearly shows the link to the song.
Do you think the lighting/setting fits the genre?
Yes, I like the lighting its warm but also dim which fits nicely together.
What do you think the overall theme is?
Love. More of a casual kind of relationship.
Kezia- Media student.
What went well?
It's very believable. I really like the transitions and when the focus closes in and out. The blurred shots are really effective.
What do you think needs to be improved?
More establishing shots are needed for the overall vibe. Location shots would look really good as a background effect. More point of view shots from the actors.
Does the narrative match the lyrics?
Yes, its really effective.
Do you think the lighting/setting fits the genre?
It's warm because it brings you in to the scene but at the same times its also dim which fits in with the urban setting.
What do you think the overall theme is?
Definitely love but at times it seemed a bit forced so I think you need to both show the same sort of feelings and have more of a friendship look.
Josh.
What went well?
The scenery and the focus work. I really like the language element, it seems fun and has a happy atmosphere.
What do you think needs to be improved?
The variety of narrative. There's not that much going on.
Does the narrative match the lyrics?
Yes. The bit where it says the fire out of her lungs and it shows one of the girls smoking really matches the song.
Do you think the lighting/setting fits the genre?
More of it should be at night.
What do you think the overall theme is?
Friendship. Teens having fun.
Tom.
What went well?
The use of different locations and the variety of places. Also the acting is pretty good.
What do you think needs to be improved?
More action and narratives. They aren't really doing much at the moment.
Does the narrative match the lyrics?
Yeah. The alcohol bit especially. The song talks about relationship and that's what is being shown.
Do you think the lighting/setting fits the genre?
It does look dark and gloomy which fits in with the overall relationship as it is also quite disjointed.
What do you think the overall theme is?
Relationships but also an element of loneliness.
Maleeka.
What went well?
It was adorable. Very believable relationship, it was really playful and ditsy which was fun and linked well with the song.
What do you think needs to be improved?
Display the relationship more clearly like are they friends or lovers.
Does the narrative match the lyrics?
Yes. It's really fun and playful.
Do you think the lighting/setting fits the genre?
Yeah. Down the tunnels the lighting was kind of dull and could have been a bit brighter but the harbour side was really nice and the lighting had a energetic feel.
What do you think the overall theme is?
Friendship and love.
This piece of audience feedback really helped us to make changes during the editing process of our video. When we asked the students what they would improve they had some really helpful ideas which we used to make our video even stronger. Each one of them said the themes that we were going for and knew that we were trying to create a sense of a relationship within a friendship between two people of the same sex. We had a variety of answers when it came to the question about the lighting. Some felt it was warm and others gloomy. We tried show both sides deliberately. The brighter lighting for the good times in the relationship and the darker to emphasise the rougher patches such as arguments between the two girls. It was good to know that the students picked up on this and that our own ideas were coming across effectively. Each person was able to understand the plot which is what we were initially worried about.

Finished album package.
These are our finished front and back covers for our album package. We decided on this font and colour because we felt it stood out the most. The background of our images is very busy and colourful so it was hard to find a font which was clear to see when put upon the backdrop. We chose a bold font to separate the text from the back image so that the information was more of the main focus point. We did not want the bands name or songs to merge into the background, so we picked the text in white to make it more obvious when in front of the colourful wall behind. We felt that in the end we made the best choice out of the fonts and colours we tried because the bands information is simple yet noticeable to our target audience which is the most important thing.
Front cover. Edited using Microsoft Powerpoint by inserting the image onto a slide and changing the colour and brightness slightly. We also added an effect onto the picture and re-shaped it slightly as we felt it would cover more space of the album cover. We also added the text on top of the picture in our chosen font and changed the colour of that to white using 'WordArt.'
Original photo.
Back cover. Edited using Microsoft Powerpoint by inserting the image onto a slide. No effect was added onto this one as we didn't want to create the same type of lighting as the front cover which is much warmer. We changed the lighting slightly so the graffiti stands out more and also contrasted this to darken the background. We inserted the text on top of the image in the same font as the front cover and changed the colour to white.
